The French and Indian Wars were not one conflict, but four. Spanning from 1688 and 1763, the four wars have a variety of names connected to them. The first war, in the United States was known as King William's War. Abroad it was called the Nine Years War. The second war in the United States was Queen Anne's War. In Europe, this conflict was called the War of Spanish Succession. The third war was King George's War, otherwise known as the War of Austrian Succession. The final war was called the French and Indian War as well as the Seven Years' War.
The war was fought in North America and surrounded the English, its colonies and Indigenous allies against France and their colonies and Indigenous allies. Both of these monarchies wanted more land that they could work on colonizing.
Women during this time played several key roles. Women worked in some domestic support, as cooks and laundresses. Women also worked as nurses, as well as along the trade routes, making sure that the men who were fighting had the supplies that they needed.
